The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Riau (FPK UNRI), continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing knowledge and research through the participation of two selected lecturers in the Writing Workshop: Development of Modules and Manuals for the Ocean Account Calculator Platform. The workshop was organized by WRI Indonesia with support from the Governments of Australia and Indonesia through the KONEKSI Program, as well as the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. The activity took place on February 4–5, 2026, at Hotel Mercure Sabang, Jakarta, aiming to strengthen academic capacity in supporting evidence-based marine policy.
The lecturers representing FPK UNRI were Dr. Trisla Warningsih, S.Pi., M.Si., a lecturer in fisheries socio-economics with expertise in economic valuation, and Rizki Oktavian, S.Pi., M.Si., a coastal ecology lecturer specializing in mangrove ecosystems. Both contributed actively to the development of modules and manuals for the Ocean Account Calculator Platform, integrating economic valuation approaches and bio-ecological perspectives to enhance sustainable marine resource management.
This workshop was part of the research initiative titled “Enhancing Evidence-based Marine Policy through the Utilization of Ocean Accounting.” The program aims to support the formulation of data-driven marine policies through the Ocean Accounts framework, which combines bio-physical and economic data into a comprehensive analytical system.
In addition to technical module development, the workshop also served as a collaborative forum involving national and international institutions. Participants exchanged knowledge, strengthened academic networks, and discussed best practices in developing innovative and practical tools for marine policy analysis and decision-making.
Through this participation, FPK UNRI continues to reaffirm its commitment to advancing scientific development, collaborative research, and sustainable marine governance. This initiative aligns with the vision of Universitas Riau to contribute meaningfully to regional and national development through impactful academic and research activities.
