Pekanbaru, FPKNews - The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau (FPK Unri) successfully held the 13th National and International Seminar on Fisheries and Marine Sciences (ISFM XIII), Thursday (12/9). The event, which took place at the Premiere Hotel, presented five international fisheries experts as keynote speakers, providing in-depth insights into various global marine and fisheries topics.
The seminar, which was opened by Vice Rector IV Unri, Dr. Sofyan Husein Siregar MPhil, discussed 137 research papers from various national and international researchers. Also present at the opening ceremony were the leadership of FPK Unri, including Prof. Nofrizal, Dr. Iskandar Putra, Jonny Zain MSi, and Ridar Hendri MSi PhD.
International experts who attended included Dr Assoc Prof Ulviyya Mammodova (Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Azerbaijan), Dr Benhard Mayer (Hamburg University, Germany), Hikaru Nakagawa Dr Sci (Aqua Restoration Research Center, Japan), Assoc Prof Janice A Ragaza PhD (Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines), and Prof Janelle Thompson (National Technology University, Singapore). They were joined by two local experts, namely Prof Dr Ir Ari Purbayanto MSc (IPB Bogor) and Prof Dr Ir Rifardi MSc (FPK Unri).
In his remarks, the Rector of Unri appreciated FPK's consistency in organizing this prestigious seminar. With the theme "Towards Sustainable Fisheries: Bridging Human Welfare and Environmental Awareness," he emphasized the relevance of the theme to the global challenges facing the fisheries sector. "ISFM XIII will make a major contribution in elevating the University of Riau to world-class university standards," he said.
