In commemoration of National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month 2026, Universitas Riau in collaboration with PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga Project Sumatera successfully organized a Talkshow and Sharing Session titled “Building a Culture of an Environmentally Conscious Generation through Sustainable Reforestation and Biodiversity Conservation.” The event was held on Friday, February 13, 2026, and attended by more than 150 participants, including students from various faculties, lecturers, and the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) team.

The program began with an opening by the Master of Ceremony, followed by a committee report delivered by Dr. Benny Heltonika, S.Pi., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of environmental awareness among young generations. Opening remarks were then presented by Mr. Muhammad Rahmad, General Manager Project R&P Dumai of PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga, before the event was officially inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Riau, Prof. Dr. Ir. Rifardi, M.Sc.

The main session featured presentations from Prof. Dr. Ir. Mubarak, M.Si., who discussed the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) as a strategic framework for biodiversity conservation. In addition, Muhammad Rahmad shared insights into sustainability initiatives implemented by PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga, highlighting real-world efforts in environmental preservation and sustainable development.

 

The talkshow was highly interactive, including a question-and-answer session that allowed participants to explore environmental issues and sustainable reforestation practices more deeply. The event concluded with a prize quiz and a group photo session as a token of appreciation for the speakers, organizing committee, and all participants.

The success of this activity reflects the strong collaboration between Universitas Riau and PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga Project Sumatera, supported by a dedicated team of lecturers and students from various departments. It is hoped that this initiative will inspire greater environmental awareness and encourage sustainable actions among the younger generation for the preservation of ecosystems in the future.
